Weekend update (no pictures yet but maybe some from last week this week)

  • Friday was a night spent at home.  I think I may have watched Death Proof during the evening and just relaxed most of the time.  I was kind of tired and not really feeling all that energetic so it was the best I could do for the night.  The rest of the weekend was full of stuff though.
  • I woke up on Saturday to find an email from the person who writes the fashion magazine feature that I am in saying that we should meet for lunch because she has copies of the magazine for me!  Sweet!  So I went to Jiyugaoka and met her and her friend for lunch at a yakiniku place.  I have copies now, so whoever wants one send me your address and I'll mail one out to you.  I'll probably post up scans tomorrow, and by scans I mean photos of the page taken with my camera as I don't have a scanner.
  • After that I went into Shibuya in order to pick up a wired xbox 360 controller (the wireless one seems to get disconnected a lot when I play street fighter 4 online, which was so frustrating it jarred me into action.  I also set out on the first round of candy buying for [info]uberconfused .  We have set up an exchange program pounds of delicious licorice for pounds of ridiculous Japanese candy.  We'll both get fat together but in a delicious way.
  • While in Shibuya I randomly ran into Vivi, who I know from various events so I recruited her into candy shopping with me.  We talked about a bunch of stuff and in the end it seems that I might start doing a little bit of work with her for the fake eyelashes she makes.  Could be interesting depending on what she has in mind.
  • Next was a trip to [info]kayteanese 's apartment with Mihoko.  Mihoko was getting her hair colored and I was there just to hang out and talk.  That worked out well.  I love Kaytea and Kazu.  I was supposed to be going to a birthday party but I stayed there like an hour after I was supposed to have arrived at the party.  It turned out OK though.  Also set up a man date with Kazu.  I am eagerly awaiting this.
  • After this, birthday party in Shin Okubo for a friend of mine (Yumiri who is the korean music DJ I've mentioned).  It was fun though there were like 20 people crammed into a 1DK apartment.  Strangely, Sisen showed up for a while, then later on Myu, who I introduced Yumiri to a year or so ago also came.  It was generally a good time.
  • Got home at about 6am on Sunday and went to sleep promptly.  I woke up around noon or so and played a bit of Street Fighter 4 with the wired controller.  Due to my not disconnecting every 30 seconds I was able to get the required 10 wins in a row in ranked battle in order to fulfill some acheivements (xbox live has special goals in games that give you points for something or other, coolness points? or nerd points in this case, whatever).
  • Eventually I dragged myself out to Ikebukuro in order to go to Tokyo Alice, which is an event that I had never been to.  There were a ridiculous amount of people there, maybe 250 or so.  I believe it was due to the bands that were playing as many people were really excited for them.  I spent most of the night talking to Lisa, who I've briefly met a couple of times but not really talked to a lot.  Turns out she is super cool and great to talk to.  If anything, the event was fun just to have talked with her.  I spent a lot of time not watching bands though, maybe I watched one or two songs for each band and that was about it.
  • Side note with the event.  Something I had never seen before occurred, there was something that reminded me of a para-para mosh pit.  Imagine a mosh pit where everyone does the same thing and moves in the same direction back and forth.  It was inexplicably weird.  I don't think this explanation does it justice though.  I wish there was a video because it was spontaneous but everyone seemed to know what to do and moved as a kind of polite mosh pit hive mind.  I couldn't help but marvel at this freakish occurrence.

I'm already fat, so you'll just have to catch up!

I find it impossible to believe that you are fat. You do so much more exercise than I do.

There's not a 1 to 1 correspondence between amount of exercise and body size. I also eat fewer calories than you do (almost certainly), but I probably outweigh you. There are plenty of pictures of me around, see for yourself.

I understand this but I still refuse to believe it. I can't look at any pictures at work (without it being obvious that I'm not working that is) but I will when I get home, though even photo evidence is not enough to convince me I think.

I mean, this is not exactly a subjective matter (if you take "fat" to mean "overweight," which I guess is how I meant it). For example, if you tell me how much you weigh, I can very easily tell you whether or not I weigh more than that.

What would convince you of "fatness" if not photo evidence?

I am not sure of my weight, 71kg I think? I can't imagine that you are more than that.

In your case, probably nothing will convince me unless you showed up at my apartment in a half shirt did some kind of jiggle dance. I just have a mental image of you from your journal (since we haven't actually ever met) that doesn't match with that.

Whoa, that idea is so disturbing that my mind goes a little bit blank when I think about it.

I find it kind of funny, however, that you seem to have no idea what I look like even though I've posted pictures of myself to my LJ at several points *and* we're Facebook friends! But I guess I'm not as picture posty as you are. I think you should draw your mental image of me and send it with the candy!

Here is the problem, though I read all your stuff on LJ, I always do so at work, and I have purposely turned off picture display so that people don't realize I'm using the internet (my pages are all force formatted to black and white with no text or colors).

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you on LJ or on Facebook beyond your face that is shown on status updates.

I guess I have to check out pictures of you. Though this may totally ruin my mental image. The current mental image isn't really that you are thin per se but just not fat. I can't really describe it.

So that means you've missed all of the beautiful food photos: the sausage pictures, the chicken mole, the licorice? How sad!

Far be it from me to rob you of your mental image. It doesn't matter if you see the pictures of me or not, but at least make sure to see the food! Ha ha ha.

I haven't seen any of the food pictures! I really need to go back and check that stuff out.

You should introduce me to Kaytea. My friend from London has been going on about how I need to meet her since I moved here.

What kind of event is Tokyo Alice?
